Here’s a lesser-known fact about me:
I started my online journey as a visual artist in 2005 when I had to build my first website. What was designing websites like in 2005? Horrible… and thank goodness we never have to go back to those days.
In 2010, I ventured into digital marketing and blogging and launched my first WordPress site. To cut a long story short, the rest is history.
It wasn’t until 2018 that everything changed. Coming from customizing child themes with Genesis framework, I discovered a new wave of WordPress page builders like Oxygen and eventually Bricks Builder!
I’ve always said it was Oxygen that made me fall in love with WordPress all over again. But when I moved across to Bricks, that bond with WordPress was truly sealed for good.
I know, real cheesy stuff. But it is what it is.
I redesigned all of my personal brand websites with Bricks, and so this decision has unequivocally proven to be one of the most important choices I’ve made in my career as a designer and digital content creator.
Today, Bricks Builder is my tool of choice, not just for building professional websites for my clients, but also for teaching visual web design.
There are no shortcuts to building beautiful websites, but there is a simpler way.
Heres the thing: We can’t argue that Bricks Builder is the only builder capable of crafting beautiful websites. Of course, other builders can help us achieve similar results.
That being said, in my experience as a designer and developer, Bricks stands out as the most comprehensive website builder there is for WordPress right now. It has had time to mature, and it is a vast improvement on what it used to be. And that isn’t just my opinion either.
Nonetheless, web design doesn’t abide by shortcuts simply because it is easier to do with drag-and-drop visual design. Unless, of course, you are purposely trying to create a boring website, you should embrace the journey of becoming an outstanding and broad-minded ‘designer’ regardless of the tool you use. That’s the bottom line.
Bricks Builder harbors tremendous potential; so there’s no necessity to settle for a lackluster, formulaic, DIY blog-esque website that only conforms strictly to conventional design norms, for me, that’s not true ‘design’.
