Welcome back. In this beginners tutorial, you’ll learn how to use a custom WP_Query parameter to display your WordPress posts by their last modified date in Oxygen Builder.
Before we get started, we’ll assume you already have your blog post archives template set up using the Repeater element. If you need help setting this up, check out Section 8 of the Oxygen Classic Course.
Why Display Posts by Last Modified?
One of the benefits of displaying posts by their last modified date is that your readers can see your most recently updated content first.
This can also be a useful way to highlight the fact that your blog is actively maintained, with content that is regularly reviewed and updated to remain relevant.
Oxygen gives you plenty of control over how your posts are queried and displayed using a custom query.
So, with that in mind, let’s get started.
Step 1 – Select the post repeater element in your structure panel and navigate to Primary → Query → Custom.
Step 2 – Click on Order → Order By → and select Date Last Modified from the drop-down menu. Then click on Apply Query Params.
Step 3 – Don’t forget to save all the changes in your template.

Now go to the front end of your site and refresh the page. Your recently modified posts should be displayed first.
